For a lot of people, trying to get the vaccine has been very difficult. Many of my older patients have not even received their first dose and that concerns me.
All of these appointments are made online and if you’re not computer savvy, it is difficult to schedule.
I have heard of people having success with getting vaccinated in central Illinois. If you are willing to take a drive, Hy-Vee Grocery Stores are vaccinating people with a scheduled appointment and it’s not as hard to find an opening.
Also, many of the vaccination centers have multiple people that don’t show up for a scheduled appointment to get the vaccine, and they have left over vaccine doses. If the doses are not given to a person that day, they must be thrown out. Essentially, a vaccine that could have went into an arm, goes down the drain.A huge waste.
I am going to share a website that will help place you on a vaccine waiting list. If they have left over vaccines, then they will contact you.
Also ask your local Walgreens and Jewel Osco, to see if they could place you on a waiting list. If someone doesn’t show up for their appointment, then they will give you a call.
I hope this information helps. As always, give us a call if you have any questions, 773-292-1911.
