In my house, growing up, it was a very loud place. We always had a lot of people in our house, and everyone talked over each other.
Many times, people would call me and hear all the noise in the background and ask, “Who’s fighting in the background?”
Then I would respond, “Nobody is fighting. That’s the way we talk.”
At first, I was embarrassed with our communication style but later found it as a connection piece, that I had with my other immigrant friends.
Even though our communication style seemed ineffective to some, it worked for us. And to this day, I have a very strong relationship with my entire family. That includes cousins as well.
Communication is the MOST important part of building a strong relationship.
In our office, I feel that this sets us apart. We are in constant communication with our patients.
After each procedure, we are reaching out to our patients to make sure everything is going ok. We want to make sure we are addressing any questions or concerns quickly.
Every one of my patients has my personal cell. They have access to me all the time. And I enjoy that open communication I have with my patients.
Many times, patients will have questions or concerns about their treatment and contact me as to what they should do. They are relieved and happy that they don’t have to go through the weekend before they get an answer.
