“When did you get your Chicago braces off?” is a question that I still hear from my patients. It’s been almost 8 years since I got them off and people are still just noticing. Funny.
I had braces about 10 years ago. My teeth were jacked up. I had this one tooth near the front that looked like Count Dracula’s fang.
As a kid, I would ask my mom about getting braces because of my Count Dracula tooth and she would tell me that it matched my personality. That was code for “we don’t have the money to pay for it.”
When I became an adult and a dentist, I felt that I needed to get it fixed. I mean, seriously, how can you be a dentist telling people they need to fix their teeth and you have Count Dracula teeth.
It ain’t happening.
The orthodontist that I saw did not do Invisalign, so that was off the table. So for 2 years I had a hell of a time keeping those metal things clean. All kinds of food would get stuck in them. I was brushing and flossing after every meal.
It was quite gross.
I’m happy that I did it because my teeth look great. But, I wish I would have had the Invisalign option.
Invisalign is a clear plastic that is changed out every week. Each week, the shape of the plastic is slightly different than the week before. These little movements week after week build up. One day, voila! you have straight teeth.
The upkeep is way easier than traditional braces in Chicago. There are no wires or brackets that accumulate food. And the flossing is super simple.
Most people will not be able to tell that you have them on.
Invisalign has revolutionized the way people straighten their teeth. The wires and brackets were a huge barrier for people. Especially adults. But Invisalign has removed that barrier.
Invisalign delivers great results that are just as good as traditional braces. And it’s a great option for people that want to straighten their teeth but don’t want all the wires and brackets of traditional braces.
If you would like to schedule an Invisalign consultation please call 773-292-1911. Ask for Katie or Zhana and let them know you would like to schedule an Invisalign consult.
Floss like a madman!
