I opened my dental office in 2006. I started the practice from scratch, meaning I had no patients when I opened the office.
I naively believed that I would put a sign on my front door and the patients would come pouring in.
That never happened. Building up the practice was slow. In dental school, we our taught how to work on the teeth and gums but how to run a business was never part of the curriculum.
For the first few years, I was winging the business portion of the practice. I had no clue how to market, how to talk to patients, basically how to run a business.
A friend of mine was running a successful practice and I asked him how he got to where he was in his business.
He told me that he had hired this consultant by the name of Suzanne. I was very reluctant to call Suzanne at first. Hiring a consultant sounded expensive and I didn’t have a whole lot of extra money to pay for a consultant.
I’m not really sure what triggered me to finally call Suzanne but I’m sure it was a stressful day or something, that made me finally pick up the phone and call her.
Suzanne and I began working together in 2011. The minute Suzanne began working with us, our office began to flourish. We worked together for many years and Suzanne became family.
Throughout the years, we called each other just to see how we are doing.
Suzanne was in Chicago this last weekend. She was hosting a training session in the area.
We hung out for a couple of days, and it was great to catch up. A lot of the things you love about our office, are things that Suzanne helped us create.
Thank you Suzanne, for all your help, support and love.
