This last weekend, we went to Clearwater, Florida, for a short vacation. We tried to get into a restaurant that is known as “United States oldest Cuban restaurant,” that was first opened in 1905. The restaurant is the “Columbia.”
As expected, the restaurant was full, and we decided to place our order to go. We had 8 people with us, and we ordered 2 Ubers to take us back to the hotel.
Our Uber got to the restaurant just as our food was coming out. The Uber was waiting as I was loading up the food in the car.
I sat in the front with the driver and the car was full of bags of carryout.
Finn and Sarah began entering into the car as the waiter was yelling at Sarah that we had forgotten some food.
Sarah and Finn stepped out of the car to grab the additional bags of food.
There was a lot of things going on and a lot of activity.
Finn started to re-enter the car. He had one foot in the car and one foot on the pavement. The door was still open, and the driver began to drive away.
I looked back and saw Finn hanging on the side of the door and we all began yelling, “STOP, STOP, STOP!!!” The driver stopped immediately. Finn was ok and didn’t have a scratch.
The whole thing took about a couple of seconds, but it was still very scary.
The driver was very shaken up. He apologized 100 times and explained that he thought everyone was in the car. It was an honest mistake.
It was pretty chaotic, with all of the things going on at once.
Everything turned out fine, but these scary moments are the very things that can create a fear of certain events.
In dentistry, we see people develop a fear of dental procedures, after a traumatic event.
With many of these people, they avoid going to the dentist because their fear of the dentist is strong enough to keep them from making appointments.
At Dente, we recognize that many people have a huge fear of the dentist.
That is why we offer Anxiety Free Dentistry. These patients are given an anxiety reducing pill, the night before their appointment and another one, the morning of their appointment.
Most of these patients will describe their appointment as the best dental appointment ever.
If you are ready to experience Anxiety Free Dentistry, visit us at mydente.com or call 773-292-1911 to schedule an appointment today!
