For me, one of the most stressful parts of reopening my business was finding the proper PPE to protect my team and my patients. The most important part of the PPE was finding a well fitting N95 mask.
As I tried to find the correct N95 mask to supply to my team with, I found a lot of shortages and questionable quality issues.
A lot of these masks were being manufactured outside of the United States and were being sold to the American market without the necessary stringent quality assurances. The American health care system was in short supply and speed was more important than quality.
I kept on asking my physician friends how they were dealing with this lack of quality masks. Many of them were working in hospitals in direct contact with Covid patients and uncertain that the masks the hospitals were providing were actually certified N95 mask.
I was worried that if the hospitals were having difficulty acquiring proper PPE for their staff, I was definitely going to have issues. I kept asking and finally one of my friends, who’s an anesthesiologist, told me that he found this American company that was selling N95 masks.
I called the company and spoke to a person that was actually working in their factory. I found out that the CDC certified their particular mask as an N95, and that they had not shortage issues. They were able to provide any order that we requested and if there were any issues I could call her directly.
I may pay a premium price for their services but I know that my team, my patients and myself will be taken care of. All of the companies that I deal with in my business, I have a personal relationship with them.
My lab that manufactures all of my crowns, bridges, and veneers, is a family owned business. I could call them directly on a Sunday and they will answer my call.
The same with the lab that makes my dentures and all of my removable appliances. I have a personal relationship with this family owned business as well. They too, have one person work on the whole process.
These are the things that I love about our business, is that there is a high level of relationships we have at our office.
That’s what patients find when they come here, there is a relationship with us. They even develop relationships with the people at the front desk. I’ve been working with a lot of my patients for 20 years. They can call us. They can count on us.
