This year is the first year Finn started playing baseball. He just turned 8 years old, and his baseball skills are pretty average.
I began playing catch with him last year and did a little batting, but for the most part, it was inconsistent.
This year, Finn has been practicing a little bit each day and it’s paying off. One of our neighbors’ kid, is a couple of years older than Finn and he is a very good baseball player.
Everyday he’ll come by the house and ask to play catch and bat with Finn.
Each day that goes by, I see him improving. He’s catching and batting a lot more confidently.
This last Sunday, Finn had a baseball game. His hitting has improved dramatically since the beginning of the season. Every time he was at bat, he made a hit and he hit his first home run.
Doing a little bit every day is way more effective than having one long day of practice.
The same rule applies in dentistry as well.
A huge way of preventing the progress of gum disease is oral hygiene.
The number one reason why people lose their teeth is because of gum disease. Most people have no problem with brushing their teeth every day. But they have problems with flossing daily.
It’s awkward. It’s difficult to handle the floss and get your hands far back enough to reach the back teeth.
I have seen firsthand, what flossing everyday does to improve the health of our gums. I struggle with gum disease myself and have seen huge improvements from the moment I began flossing every day.
Many people will avoid flossing because they say that is causes their gums to bleed. Actually, your gums are bleeding because there is bacteria down in your gums and that is causing inflammation. Consistent flossing will help reduce and eliminate that bleeding. This means doing it daily.
Others say that it’s too hard to floss and they can’t get to their back teeth. When I first began to floss it was very difficult. It took me about 10 minutes to floss my entire mouth. After a few weeks of doing it every day, that time was reduced significantly, and now I floss my entire mouth in less than one minute.
