On May 22, 2013 at 7:10 AM my son Finn was born. He weighed 7lbs 11oz and measured 19.5 inches.
Like most fathers nowadays, I was in the delivery room. I like to brag that I was the first one to see him when he was born. That single event has been by far the most important day of my life. Completely changed my life.
Today Finn turns 5 and it is amazing to see how fast the time has flown. He is turning into a pretty cool kid. He’s goofy like me and smart like Sarah. His energy level is off the charts. I always love hanging with him.
Sometimes we wrestle, sometimes we race. Sometimes we veg on the sofa together. We watch Power Rangers or some of his YouTube shows like Ryan’s Toy Review. I don’t care what we watch as long as we do it together.
The other day, I heard that 80% of the time that you spend with your children will be between birth and the age of 18. So I know that I need to make the most of this time with him.
Having my own dental office has allowed me to structure my schedule to spend the most time with Finn.
I get invited to Cubs games or Bears games and I almost always turn them down. The reason is that I’d prefer to hang with my wife and son than be in an overcrowded stadium.
And its because I always have that statistic in my head that 80% of the time that I will be with him will be up to the age of 18.
Happy birthday, Finn. Mama and Dada love you so very much.
Floss like a madman!
