One of our family members was visiting from Miami. We wanted to take her to one of our favorite Japanese restaurants.
Our son, Finn, wanted to drink a pop, so he ordered his favorite drink…Sprite. The waiter then suggested that he try a Japanese pop called Ramune. The drink has a cool presentation.
The top of the bottle had this plastic diamond that is pushed into this other compartment. This activates the carbonation in the drink and mixes with the lemon lime flavoring.
There was this intense fizzing that almost spilled out of the bottle. Finn quickly began drinking the pop before it spilled onto the table. Everyone at the table yelled, “Finn! Drink it quickly, before it spills!”
It was an awesome and fun presentation.
On a different occasion, I once was able to help a Japanese man who was in Chicago for a conference. This man was having a toothache and one of my friends, who was doing business with him, called me to help him out.
I came into the office and was able to help stabilize his discomfort. He was totally grateful.
He then told me that if I was ever in Tokyo, to call him. He then carefully reached into his pocket and removed a business card. He wanted the card to remain in pristine condition. He then took both of his hands and grabbed both sides of the card. He extended both hands in my direction and bowed his head, as he carefully handed the card to me.
It was the coolest way of handing a business card. I was amazed and felt very special.
I have noticed, that in the Japanese culture, many people take pride in how they deliver everything. It comes off very natural and genuine and it’s a part of their culture.
One of the things people always compliment our office on, is how nice everyone is.
We have hundreds of reviews that compliment how welcoming and kind our office is.
The key to having this type of culture in our office, is finding people with those attributes. Finding nice people, who are kind and welcoming.
