I’m Smelling Like a 92 Year Old Woman
Sarah went to the store to buy some bathroom soap. She usually buys some really nice smelling fragrances, but this time the store was in short supply.
She, instead, bought a brand that we have never used.
When I looked at the packaging, the design looked pretty cool and I thought the smell was going to be equally as good. But when I opened it, I was not at all what I expected.
When I smelled the soap, it reminded me of my grandmother.
I loved my grandmother and we had an amazing connection, but I did not love the soap she smelled like.
As a kid, she had a certain smell, (in my opinion), and we called it “the old people smell.” The best way I could describe it, was that she smelled like Talcum Powder. It wasn’t a bad smell but it wasn’t the most pleasant smell either.
Sometimes in dentistry, smells, sounds or certain visualizations will elicit a negative feeling from people. For many people, this negative experience is rooted back all the way to their childhood.
A huge percentage of the population will avoid going to the dentist because their fear of the dentist overcomes them. They may hear the sound of a drill, and become overwhelmed with fear. The very idea of getting numb, will make them cry and they will cancel their dental appointment.
We offer them anxiety reducing pills, that will help them have restful sleep the night before and have a relaxed or calming feeling on the day of the appointment.
If you are anxious about going to the dentist, and want to know if Anxiety Free Dentistry is the right fit for you, please call us at 773-292-1911.
We will schedule you for a easy, stress-free consultation. P.S. Please don’t judge me, if I smell like a 92 year old Cuban Grandma. It’s the soap.
