When Finn gets home from school every day, Sarah and I ask him if he has any homework. His answer is always Yes.
He’ll usually have a couple of simple worksheets. One math, and one reading or spelling.
Last week when we asked him if he had any homework, he frantically answered YES. He had a major project due that required all kinds of arts and crafts. He nervously said he needed to prepare a presentation on the Tiger Shark.
Finn also said he needed to create a poster board with all the attributes and facts of the Tiger Shark.
This grand reveal of this presentation project happened at 7:00pm, while we were eating dinner.
When we asked him for the details of the assignment, he had no clue. Then Sarah and I both responded, “How do you not know what your homework assignment is?”
We needed to figure out what his assignment was, and fast. Sarah reached out to all the moms of Finn’s classmates, in a mass group text.
Within minutes, responses came flowing in, and we got the information we needed. The moms were sharing how they got the project done and how long it took from start to finish.
In the past, this type of accessibility to people didn’t exist. Everything moved a lot slower, and the ability to get information, took sometimes days or weeks.
Our accessibility, here at Dente, is one of our strongest features. Our patients are constantly in contact with us, it could be asking for help understanding their insurance benefits or reaching out with questions about what do to in specific dental-issue scenarios.
Making myself available, via my direct cell phone, to my patients is also extremely rewarding and important to me.
Just last week, I had a patient text me that their tooth had broken while they were eating dinner. I asked him to text me a photo of the broken tooth. I then reassured him that the tooth would not be lost, and we’d be able to fix it.
I want my patients to feel like they can reach me anytime, any day. I even encourage my patients to reach out to me on the weekend or after business hours, especially if I can help give them peace of mind or information that they need right away.
I love helping people out when they are nervous about a certain dental emergency. It’s extremely rewarding.
