*TRIGGER WARNING – Mental Health*
This last weekend, I went to my 20 year dental school reunion.
We graduated 20 years ago, but many of us still talk to each other on a pretty regular basis. It was great seeing everyone and it felt like old times.
We all got together to celebrate our 20 year anniversary, but the other reason was to remember our friend.
Last year one of my friends, Jen Wolfe, died by suicide.
Jen was never the kind of person that I would imagine taking her own life. She was the all American girl, that every person strived to be like.
Our entire class was in complete shock and saddened when we heard that Jen had taken her own life.
Jen was a pediatric dentist in Altoona, Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines.
Jen was happily married with our classmate, Pat Wolfe, and they have 5 awesome kids.It seemed like everything was great and the type of life everyone strives for.
It seemed like everything was great and the type of life everyone strives for.
The University of Iowa set up an endowment in Jen’s name. This money will contribute to mental illness awareness and prevention, helping those struggling with mental illness.
Jen was an amazing pediatric dentist. She was very committed to her profession. Part of the money will help low income families when their children need to receive anesthesia during dental treatment.
