Whenever we do any treatment here at Dente, the question we ask ourselves is… What would I do if this patient was my son?
The answer is: always perform the most conservative treatment possible. Meaning, preserve as much tooth structure as possible.
One of my patient’s came in with some spacing. The patient did not like how he teeth looked and wanted to get some options.
The first option was to perform bonding to the teeth. Bonding is a technique using tooth colored material that is added to the existing tooth structure to help change the shape and color of the tooth.
The results looked amazing!
Now with bonding, after 3 or 4 years, it begins to look dull. As far as options go, it is not the longer lasting solution. For great long lasting esthetics, porcelain veneers are the way to go.
For this particular case, we did not alter the existing natural tooth structure, at all. His natural tooth structure was untouched. Which preserves the natural tooth structure as much as possible.
We bonded a porcelain facing right onto his existing tooth structure. This porcelain cosmetic treatment will last 10 to 15 years.
I was very satisfied with the finished product and most importantly, the patient was happy.
