My family and I moved into our current home over 5 years ago.
From the day we moved in, our neighbors have been extremely welcoming.
On the day we moved in, we received all kinds of treats and they welcomed us into the neighborhood.
That welcoming feeling and community has only increased since we’ve been there.
In the summer, the kids in the neighborhood are playing outside and the parents are all hanging out.
On a yearly basis we do a block party and recently, we added a progressive dinner on our block.
This last Saturday was that progressive dinner.
Basically, four houses make a theme meal. For example, our homemade Italian appetizers. Another home had barbecue. About 22 people participated.
All of these events have created a very close knit block. It’s something that I’ve never experienced before.
When friends come to visit, they comment on how close our block is and wish they had that closeness with theirs. It’s a real sense of community.
