As a Chicago dentist, I aim to improve services provided by Dente Complete Dentistry daily. In doing so, I recently attended my first meeting for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The reason I attended this meeting was to begin my accreditation of cosmetic dentistry.
This organization facilitates a rigorous process that requires you to pass a written exam, present five cases of people’s smiles that you enhanced, and also take an oral exam.
Only 500 people in the world have received this accreditation since the Academy was founded. Everyone that I know that has completed it describes the process as being brutal but what they learned during the process was priceless.
The entire process takes up to five years at times.
At the meeting, I met some really great motivated people. The speakers were fantastic.
This year the meeting was in Chicago at the McCormick Place. The meeting went from Wednesday to Saturday. Throughout the week, the Academy threw several parties.
One of the parties was at the Museum of Science and Industry.
Amazing!
I have never been to a party at any of the museums. They set up different food stations. One table had Italian food, another was Middle Eastern and a Chicago Style food, like hot dogs and deep dish pizza.
We could wander freely through the museum. I wish we could have brought our son because he would have loved it.
I am looking forward to starting this journey and will keep you informed as I knock off each step of the process.
I know that I will have bumps in the road during this process but THAT’S LIFE.
