This past Tuesday was Finn’s first day back in school with in-person learning (not Zoom.) Since I work early, I called him to wish him luck that morning on the first day back.
I asked him if he was excited, and he responded that he was nervous. When I asked him what he was nervous about, he said that he didn’t know.
I let him know that when you take a break from doing things, sometimes coming back is nerve racking. I was always nervous on my first day of school but once I got into it, my nerves went away.
For many people, the pandemic has caused them to avoid their health care providers. For many people it’s been almost 2 years since they last saw a dentist.
This break has caused many people to develop an anxiety of going to the dentist.
Here are a couple of questions that may go through their head:
Will it be safe when I go to my dental appointment?
We have been open now for over a year. All of our team members are currently vaccinated. Because we are following the standards, no team member has contracted the virus from the office either. We have taken all the precautions to keep our staff and patients safe. We have not let up. Even when the CDC said it was ok to be without a mask indoors, we recognized that this did not include healthcare facilities, and we continued all of our new safety protocols.
What if I developed a ton of dental issues on my time away from the dentist?
This is a common thought for many people. Most people feel that they will have a ton of dental issues after a long break from regular dental cleanings. The reality is that if you didn’t have a ton of issues before, more than likely you will not have a lot of issues now.
With many people having safety concerns, we have continued to maintain safety protocols.
