Last week I was in Evanston. I was there around lunch time and thought about where I could go for lunch.
Evanston has a lot of great and new restaurants, but I was feeling nostalgic that day.
I decided to go to a place that I went to as a teenager with my friends.
The restaurant is called Sarkis Café. Sarkis is in the North Shore area. (cafesarkis.com)
As teens, we would go to Sarkis during our lunchtime or for breakfast.
The owner was from Armenia and probably one of the most charismatic people I’ve ever met.
He served breakfast sandwiches and omelets. That was it. His sandwiches were very unique.
My two favorites were a ham sandwich called the Loretta and an Armenian sausage sandwich called the Disaster.
The restaurant attracted kids from all the neighboring high schools. It would be packed and usually had a long wait.
The food and the vibe were part of the entire experience.
Whenever I have any friends who move into the North Shore area, I always recommend Sarkis.
Almost every time when I ask them how Sarkis was, they will report back, “It was ok.”
For me going back to Sarkis is not just about the food but it's about the good memories I had of going there. The people and family that I used to go with.
Remembering the good times and the loved ones in my life, who have moved on or moved away.
Good memories enhance experiences and bad memories ruin them. We have this happen in dentistry all the time.
Someone who has a bad experience in a dental appointment, usually when they are younger, typically develops a fear of the dentist for the rest of their lives.
At Dente, we recognize this and it’s why we offer Anxiety Free Dentistry.
A patient is given anxiety reducing medication to help them become more relaxed during their dental appointment.
Most people will say that this is the best dental experience they have ever had.
Which means they are ready to come back when needed. And sooner than later, they will be able to have regular dental visits and maintain oral health.
We are happy to be able to help people and be part of the oral health solution.
