Practice Makes Perfect

Last week, I wrote about how I attended a class with the entire office. I originally took these classes 14 years ago.

It was a practice management workshop course that helped me communicate, organize my office and helped me create systems in our business to give our patients a better experience.

This class is called Dental Boot Kamp. Each person in our office plays a role in this enhanced patient experiences system.

Attending with the entire team is crucial in getting the best outcome from the class. Our entire team attended, and it was great.

As we reheard and relearned the material we began thinking, “Hey, we used to do that, but we stopped doing a few steps, a few years ago.” Also, we stated “Hey, we had that part of our system in place before, why did we stop doing that again? Can you remind me?

This course reminded me that training on a regular basis is a great way to measure if we’re staying on track.

This happens to all of us in every area of our lives. Whenever we get off track with our health checkups we see our health breakdown.

Keeping an eye on our dental health is an ongoing thing. I know that I will sometimes neglect my biannual dental checkups.

A lot of our patients struggle with this too. Most of the time it has to deal with trying to get a patient into the schedule.

It will look like this: I’m on the schedule for my own hygiene cleaning, then a patient will call to get their cleaning, and I’ll have the staff take me out of the schedule and place the patient in my place.

We all have our reasons as to why we fell off track:

Work is too busy and it’s hard to get away.

My dentist retired.

I don’t connect with the new dentist that bought my former dentist’s office.

I’m scared of the dentist.

It’s been a long time since I went to the dentist and I’m worried that I will be judged.

These are all real reasons, but people should find a non-judgmental office that will address all of their fears. Dente is that place.

If you have not gone to the dentist in a while and want to get back on track, please visit us at mydente.com or call 773-292-1911 to schedule your appointment.
