Emilio the Interior Decorator

When I first opened my office, I had no clue how to design a dental office. I hired an interior designer pro named Ron.

Ron gave me a homework assignment. He told me to pay attention to spaces that I walk into and identify the colors and designs that I like. He had me take photos of the spaces and present my findings to him.

When I decided what I liked, Ron then put together a palate of colors and his recommendations for me.

Everything looked awesome but my only apprehension was that he picked a lot of wall coverings, or what some people call wallpaper, for the office.

I did not feel comfortable having so much wall covering because that’s what my grandma had in her house.

He then told me that the right type of wall covering will look amazing, and is much better than paint for a longer period of time.

He said that’s all hotels use.

I was not completely convinced and asked him to do part paint and part wall covering. Ron was right and not too longer, I had all of the painted walls covered with wall covering.

Now that I walk into any building, I always notice the wall covering on the walls and see how good they look.

Once we begin to notice something, it stays on our mind all the time and it’s all we see.

This happens to us all the time. Like when you buy a car, and then notice the same make and model all over the roads.

I see this in dentistry all the time. I’ll have a patient that comes in because they don’t like the look of a tooth or their smile.

They’ll say that every time they take a photo, they notice their teeth and it really bothers them. Or they’ll say that their child mentioned something about their crooked tooth, and since then, that’s all they notice about their smile.

If you are going through this right now and would like to get some ideas on how to improve your smile, please visit us at mydente.com or call 773-292-1911.
