This past 4th of July, my family and I spent time in Lake Geneva.
Sarah, my wife, scheduled a mailboat tour on the Walworth.
Lake Geneva delivers mail to the houses on the water, by boat. This started in 1916. The mailboat delivers the mail only to the residents that request it today.
During the tour, you are given a history of the homes along the lake. Surprisingly, it was fun.
The mailboat was driven by the Captain.
He would drive close to the home's private peer where the owner had a mailbox constructed.
As the boat got closer to the pier, the mail carrier positioned themselves along the boat's side.
Then they would jump out of the boat, run along the pier, place the mail in the mailbox, run towards the boat and jump onto the boat.

Most of the time the mail carriers make it onto the boat but sometimes they miss and land in the water.
Our mail carrier was also our guide. She told us that she was 20 years old and a student at the University of Wisconsin. She began working on the boat when she turned 14 years old.
As a young girl, her grandmother would take her on the boat tour. As a little girl she decided she was going to work at the Walworth one day.
As kids, a lot of times we make decisions that come to fruition in our adulthood. Sometimes kids will dream of one day owning a certain car. Then when they become adults, they make it happen.
A lot of people will dream of having a nice smile as young adults but don’t have the finances to afford it.
When they get a job and get some money saved up, they will put the wheels in motion to get their dream smile.
