Baby Bunnies

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how we had a bunny nest in our backyard.

We have a fenced in yard and will usually just open the side door, let the dog out by himself and he does his business.

Since we’ve had the bunnies in the yard, we stopped doing that. We will put him on a leash to avoid him hurting the bunnies.

The bunnies left the nest and were wandering in the yard. Their mom would watch from a distance.

Every day we would go out and check on the bunnies.

One was hiding under the grill, another in a bush, and the other would go between our house and our neighbors house.

Whenever we came out, the mama bunny would watch us and track our every movement.

We did this for a few days straight, until one day, we went outside and the bunnies were no longer there.

I suspect that the mom has had bad experiences in the past with humans. We were there to help and protect the bunnies. But mom’s bad, negative experiences already influenced her reaction to the point that she needed to get her babies out.

Many of us will have negative experiences in a certain situation and that experience will influence our behavior for the rest of our lives.

This happens in dentistry all the time. Many people have a fear of the dentist from a past negative dental experience they may have had as a kid. This negative experience will follow them into adulthood.

Many of these people will avoid going to the dentist because of fear.

It is estimated that between 30 to 50 percent of the American population will avoid the dentist due to fear.

At Dente, we recognize the needs of this patient population and it’s why we offer Anxiety Free Dentistry.

These patients are given anxiety reducing medication that will help them get through their dental appointment stress free.

Many of these patients will tell us that their Anxiety Free Dental appointment was their best dental appointment ever.

If you are anxious about going to the dentist, and would like to get an Anxiety Free Dental consultation, please visit us at mydente.com or call 773-292-1911 to schedule your appointment.
