How Can I Fight Cavities?

How Can I Fight Cavities? Wage war on the bacteria that’s causing cavities!  Draw out a battle plan for how to destroy the acid producing bacteria and also prevent it from coming back. There’s no need to be a victim of frequent dental caries. With diligence and persistence, you can manage the well-being of your oral health for good.

Half the battle is finding the right dental products that will work effectively for your needs. Dr. Emilio Couret at Dente Complete Dentistry in Chicago has been working with Carifree Dental care products for 8 years, which comes highly recommended in the dental community. It’s specifically formulated and highly effective at both correcting and preventing dental caries because it’s products are high in fluoride and contain Xylitol (the ingredient that slays all the carie producing bacteria). One regimen in particular that has done wonders for patients is the CTx26 Kit with CTx4 Gel 1100 by Carifree.  Don’t let the name of the kit intimidate you! Once you get used to the steps of the regimen and understand how each part aids and helps the next, you’ll get used to it in a snap. This kit provides a 3 months supply of products.

First, with any oral home care regimen, you want to floss in between each tooth to remove all food debris and plague. Yes, it’s going to be very time consuming, but it’s so important to not neglect areas where your toothbrush can’t reach. If flossing really grinds your gears and you can’t stand to do it, you should try using a water flosser device (you can buy one at most home retail stores or online). Ideally, flossing should be done after every meal. If you can only floss once a day, the most important time would be to floss right before bed.

After flossing, start with the CTx4 Treatment Rinse. This treatment rinse has to be done first so that teeth will be prepped and ready for the next step. The first month of this kit, you’ll be using the Treatment Rinse first, combining 5ml’s each of Rinse A and B, and swishing for up to one minute. Once you completely use up the Treatment Rinse supply, you’ll then switch to the CTx3 Rinse.

Next, use the CTx4 Gel 1100 toothpaste. Brush this paste onto your teeth and then brush like normal, for at least 1-2 minutes. Pay special attention to areas of your mouth where you are aware of plague buildup, such as along the gum line by the back molars. This toothpaste is high in fluoride, which will ultimately help keep the bad bacteria away. It’s important to NOT rinse after brushing.  We want the fluoride in the toothpaste to have as much affect on your teeth as possible; rinsing it off immediately would be counterproductive. Do not eat or drink anything for at least 30 minutes thereafter.

Getting used to this new routine may prove to be challenging at first, but just like learning a new skill or changing a lifestyle habit- the more you practice it, the more natural it’ll become.  Helpful tip: if you feel your teeth are grimy or unclean after following this regimen, try brushing your teeth with just baking soda, after you floss, and before you start the CTx26 Kit.
